The economic fallout precipitated by the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in catastrophic loss of income for Texas writers. In response to the crisis, Deep Vellum launched a relief fund to award small grant to Texas writers experiencing economic difficulty as a result of the pandemic. The application deadline for Round One was June 8, and at the end of June Deep Vellum awarded 43 small grants to writers around Texas. Submissions for Round Two are currently being accepted. Read below for deadlines and eligibility information.

If you would like to contribute to the fund, you can make a contribution here. 100% of your gift will support the relief fund. You can also contact Deep Vellum Director of Development Lindsay King at lindsay [at] deepvellum [dot] org to discuss other ways to give.

Timeline for Round Two

  • Applications will be accepted until October 31, 2020

  • Deep Vellum will make funding decisions and disburse funds by November 30, 2020

Eligibility

All writers who live in Texas are eligible for this grant. This grant is not merit-based. Awards will be given to writers who demonstrate financial need. The grants are intended to serve as relief funding.
