Leila Chudori: Look of Silence Movie Screening & Discussion @ Alamo Drafthouse (Dallas)

LOOK OF SILENCE PosterFree screening (w/ reservation) of Oscar-nominated documentary The Look of Silence, the follow-up to The Act of Killing, which follows a family of survivors who discover how their son was murdered during Suharto’s 1965 genocide in Indonesia – and the identity of the men who murdered him. After the film, Deep Vellum author Leila S. Chudori will discuss the film, her novel Home, and her work as a journalist with the Alamo Drafthouse’s Joe Fay, looking at issues related to the political exiles and victims of the same genocide, and the legacy of 1965’s tragedy in Indonesia today. The Wild Detectives will be on hand to sell books.
