Dr. Larry Allums will moderate the panel discussion.
The panelists will discuss the relevance and timeliness of the book Banthology: Stories From Banned Nations, which was commissioned by Comma Press in the UK and subsequently published in the US by Dallas-based nonprofit literary arts organization, Deep Vellum Publishing. Seven authors from the seven “banned” countries write stories in various literary genres to shed light on those countries’ experiences with the effects of the president’s travel ban. The panelists will also discuss the U.S. administration's travel bans, the effects the bans have had on Muslims, refugees, asylum seekers, and the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (including DFW airport detentions) in our own community, and the path these leaders have chosen to take in response to these bans.
