The Wild Detectives and Hay Festival will join forces again to create one of the most interesting literary and cultural events in the city of Dallas.
This year the poet, essayist and teacher Anne Boyer in conversation with Eduardo Rabasa will be supported by Hay Festival Forum Dallas, and The Wild Detectives will host a weekend full of culture in Dallas, TX: the Hay Festival Forum Dallas. In addition, several participants of the festival will also be in person at The Wild Detectives bookstore just after the Hay Festival Querétaro 2021.

6.30p New Spanish narratives in the US – Valerie Miles & Will Evans
In recent decades, one of the world’s literary events has been publication by Granta magazine of its lists of the best fiction writers in a certain territory aged under 35. In 2021, the second list, edited by Valerie Miles appeared showcasing the work of twenty-five of the most exciting writers under thirty-five in the Spanish-speaking world, chosen by judges Chloe Aridjis, Horacio Castellanos Moya, Rodrigo Fresán, Aurelio Major and Gaby Wood. Valerie will be in conversation with Will Evans discussing how the new Spanish narrative is influencing what we read and write in the US nowadays.
8p Rock & Literature – Joselo Rangel & Carlos Velazquez
Joselo Rangel is a founder member, guitarist and song-writer with one of the great bands of Mexican rock, Café Tacvba. He has also had a respected literary career, with the publication of the book of essays Crócknicas marcianas, followed by the book of short stories One hit wonder (2015), the novel Los desesperados (2018) and his most recent book, La niña aburrida (2021). Joselo will be in conversation with Carlos Velazquez to discuss his new book and the links between rock music and literature. –This event will be bilingual.

Kiko Villamizar and his 8 piece band will transport you to the Colombian Andes and Caribbean with traditional Afro-Colombian drums and the Indigenous Colombian “gaita” flutes meshed with a full psychedelically electric ensemble. Kiko carries the traditions of their ancestors while staying relevant in any modern setting. 20 years of trajectory, two world tours later, and a third on the way, from Vienna or Bogotá, to Berkeley or New York , Kiko’s stories are always received with standing ovations and hip shaking workouts..
