Join SMU's Department of Languages and Literatures and Wild Detectives bookstore for an evening of lively conversation about Latin American literature and politics. Participants include Eduardo Rabasa (Mexico), Daniel Saldaña (Mexico), Juan Cardenas (Colombia), and Mónica Ojeda (Ecuador), all members of the "Bogota 39," the top 39 Latin American writers under the age of the 39, as declared by the Hay Festival in 2017. They will be joined by literary translator Christina McSweeney (UK) and Dallas publisher Will Evans (Deep Vellum), who will moderate. Reception from 5:30-6:00, panel from 6:00-7:30.
This event is free and open to the public but you must register to attend. More information about the Bogotá 39 is availlable here.
This event is sponsored by SMU's Department of World Languages and Literatures, the Dean's Office of Dedman College, the SMU Women and Gender Studies Program, and the Peggy W. and Herbert L.
