Join us for an intimate evening with Kiese Laymon in conversation with novelist Sanderia Faye to discuss his groundbreaking fiction, memoir, and essays. This evening is hosted by Lauren Embrey.

Laymon is a Black southern writer from Jackson, MS. In his observant, often hilarious work, Laymon battles with the personal and the political: race and family, body and shame, poverty and place. Laymon is “one of the most dazzling, inventive, affecting essayists working today” (NYLON) and “a star in the American literary firmament, with a voice that is courageous, honest, loving, and singularly beautiful” (NPR). He is the author of the award-winning memoir Heavy, the groundbreaking essay collection How to Slowly Kill Yourself and Others in America, and the genre-defying novel Long Division, which was reissued by Scribner in 2021.
