Deep Vellum was founded in Dallas, Texas in 2013 by Will Evans. Deep Vellum’s mission is to bring the world into conversation through literature. We publish fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and everything in between—both works in translation and English originals—specializing in books that break the mold across languages, oceans, and hearts.

Dalkey Archive Press was founded in Elmwood Park, Illinois in 1984 by John O’Brien. It became an imprint of Deep Vellum in 2020. Dalkey Archive Press specializes in the publication and republication of avant-garde literature and highlights writers overlooked by the mainstream critical establishment. Above all, we are dedicated to preserving and continuing the experimental literary tradition in America. 

A Strange Object was founded in Austin, Texas in 2012 by Jill Meyers and Callie Collins. It became an imprint of Deep Vellum in 2019. A Strange Object publishes surprising, heartbreaking fiction alongside thoughtful works of nonfiction that defy categorization. We’re talking about books that haunt and inspire us—big work that engulfs, that takes risks, that bucks form, that builds warm dwellings in dark places. 

La Reunion was founded in Dallas, Texas in 2019 as an imprint of Deep Vellum. Named after the utopian socialist colony that formed in Dallas in 1855, La Reunion focuses on local, community‑driven literature anchored in Texas identity and history. We publish memoirs, essays, regional histories, and place-based fiction about Texas or by Texas-adjacent authors. 

Phoneme was founded in Los Angeles in 2013 by David Shook and Brian Hewes. It became an imprint of Deep Vellum in 2019. Phoneme focuses on poetry from underrepresented, endangered, and indigenous languages. We publish these works of poetry bilingually or trilingually—with the original language appearing alongside the translation(s).

Fum d’Estampa was founded in Barcelona and London in 2020 by Douglas Suttle. It became an imprint of Deep Vellum in 2024. Begun with the aim of bringing exciting Catalan language literature to an English-speaking audience, we now focus on ambitious non-fiction in translation that is both intellectually rigorous and accessible.
